Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The RealED English Suite ("RealED", "we") is operated by RW Enterprises Robert John Ward Jr., based in Warsaw, Poland (the "data controller"). We provide web-based tools for English teachers and their learners.

2. What data we collect

• Account data: your email address, your name (if you sign in with Google), a hashed password (email accounts only), and your account status.
• Consent records: the fact and time that you confirmed you are 16 or older and accepted these terms, and how you did so.
• Usage data: counts of your requests to our AI tools (used to apply fair-use limits) and technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
• Content you create: lessons, exercises, and other materials you generate or save in the Suite.
• Microphone audio: if you use the Speaking tool, your browser asks for microphone permission and your speech is processed to provide live transcription and feedback. Audio is processed for this purpose only and is not retained by RealED as stored recordings. The same applies to online-lesson audio capture: if you use a tool’s online mode to transcribe a video-call tab, that audio — which may include participants’ voices — is processed live for transcription only and is not stored.

3. Why we process it (legal bases)

• To provide the service you signed up for (contract — Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): accounts, sign-in, generating and saving materials.
• With your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): microphone use in the Speaking tool. You can decline or withdraw microphone permission at any time in your browser.
• Our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, applying fair-use limits, and improving the tools.
• Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)): where the law requires us to keep certain records.

4. AI transparency

The Suite's exercises, explanations, summaries, and speaking feedback are generated by artificial-intelligence systems. AI-generated content can contain mistakes; teachers should review materials before classroom use. Your inputs (for example a topic you type, or speech in the Speaking tool) are sent to our AI provider to generate the response.

5. Who processes data for us

We use a small number of service providers ("processors") to run RealED:

• Supabase — account database and authentication.
• Vercel — application hosting.
• OpenAI — AI generation, including transcription of Speaking-tool audio.
• Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google" to sign in.

Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area (for example in the United States). Where that happens, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.

6. How long we keep data

Account and content data are kept while your account is active. If your account is deleted, associated personal data is removed or anonymised within a reasonable period, except where the law requires longer retention. Consent records are kept as evidence of agreement for as long as legally relevant.

7. Age requirement

The Suite is intended for users aged 16 or older. Creating an account requires confirming this. If we learn that an account belongs to a person under 16 without valid arrangements, we will close it and delete the associated data.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you may, at any time:

• access a copy of your personal data;
• correct inaccurate data;
• request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten");
• receive your data in a portable format;
• object to, or request restriction of, certain processing;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (this does not affect earlier processing).

To exercise any of these, write to rob@realwarsaw.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Polish supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), or the authority in your EU country.

9. Cookies and local storage

RealED uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

10. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will inform active users through the Suite or by email. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
